The Downtown Deal: Silver Spring Cinco de Mayo Festival

Today’s Downtown Deal—from (and Downtown Silver Spring)—offers up another great Cinco de Mayo celebration!

Starting at 5:00 p.m. today, join Sarah Fraser from “The Kane Show” on Hot 99.5 on Thursday, on Ellsworth Drive at the Austin Grill beer garden. The largest Cinco de mayo celebration in Montgomery County will feature activities for everyone, including a piñata smash, the cactus limbo, Austin Grill eating contests and games with awesome Downtown Silver Spring and Austin Grill prizes. The Son de Mariachi Band and Maru Montero Dance Troupe, plus authentic Mexican performers from the Washington DC metro area will keep you entertained.

The Austin Grill beer garden will feature: $4 TexMex margaritas, $2 El Diablo shots, as well as hot wing and taquito specials.

Feeling adventurous? Enter Austin Grill’s inaugural “Slopper” eating contest. The first person to finish a Slopper (a round tortilla ball full of cheese, meat and sauce) will win a $500 gift card to Austin Grill. As an extra incentive, Austin Grill will give free Cinco de Mayo T-shirts to the first 100 guests.

Following the Cinco de Mayo Party outside, the party will move into Austin Grill at 8pm for a full night of Cinco fun!
