WASHINGTON, D.C. – A falafel-frenzy continues to ensue in Metropolitan Washington D.C. And, this news will only make it more exciting.

The four-shop agreement continues the brand’s robust expansion throughout the D.C. area. Striking the deal with David Rosenstein, the locally-based restaurateur whose Metropolitan Restaurant Management has owned and operated multiple (12) Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen restaurants in D.C., Montgomery (Md.) and Prince William (Virg.) counties for the past 28 years, four new shops will open in the D.C. neighborhoods of Georgetown and DuPont Circle, plus Bethesda and Silver Spring, Maryland.

Prior to today’s news of the development agreement, which will significantly expand the brand’s presence in the region, Rosenstein also recently signed a franchise agreement with Amsterdam Falafelshop to open a shop in Arlington’s Clarendon neighborhood at 3024 Wilson Blvd., in the center of the neighborhood’s retail and entertainment scene. Clarendon’s shop and the four additional locations in development are key contributors to the strong momentum behind Amsterdam Falafelshop’s strategic franchise growth initiative.

“I appreciate everything about Amsterdam Falafelshop, and I am so excited to spread the concept throughout several D.C. neighborhoods and bring it to Bethesda and Silver Spring Maryland as well,” said Rosenstein, who is also a hotelier and a commercial real estate executive. “The local workforce and nighttime crowds in D.C. love this world-class falafel. And, the brand is ripe for expansion. We are opening more shops for vocal fans who have been requesting locations closer to their homes.”

Over the past decade, Amsterdam Falafelshop has become known as the Adams Morgan top-it-yourself falafel experience with an authentic vibe and a culture beyond compare. The brand’s strategic expansion continues to catch the attention of recognized industry ownership teams similar to Rosenstein’s. Another proven multi-unit, multi-brand team in Boston recently established a deal to develop its second Amsterdam Falafelshop. It is scheduled to open later this year in a quality Kenmore Square location. An additional franchise location opened recently along D.C.’s 14th Street and another is planned for L'Enfant Plaza.

“David is a class act. Someone we’re proud to have in the Amsterdam Falafelshop family. We feel great about having his team grow the brand in D.C. and suburban Maryland,” said Arianne Bennett, CEO of Amsterdam Falafelshop. “We’ve known Amsterdam Falafelshop was something special from the beginning. Having pros like David onboard is a clear validation of the strength of the concept.”

Amsterdam Falafelshop has garnered a global fan base and consistently tops best-food lists, receives widespread food-critic acclaim, and has won over the hearts of discerning customers who have made it a top restaurant on Yelp. In addition to serving fresh-made falafel sandwiches and Dutch-style fries [“frieten”], shops offer nearly two-dozen toppings for patrons to customize their falafel.

In addition to expanding throughout Washington D.C. metro, Amsterdam Falafelshop is moving forward with an aggressive U.S. franchise growth plan calling for new shops in select urban centers where the brand can maintain its originality among a diverse collection of consumers. The company is still accepting applications from qualified franchisees interested in further developing key U.S. areas throughout the Northeast, Eastern Seaboard, Midwest and Southeast. Target markets include the Washington D.C. metro area and Baltimore, Atlanta, the Carolinas, Miami, Tampa, the New York metro area, Philadelphia and Richmond. Plus, Amsterdam Falafelshop has also pinpointed metropolitan areas across the midsection of the nation such as Chicago, Ohio, and other major metro markets in Texas.

There are three Amsterdam Falafelshop franchise locations currently operating — one in Annapolis, Md., one in Washington D.C. and one in Boston. Additionally, there are five more shops planned for the Greater D.C. area, three more in the Boston market and multiple locations are planned for Salt Lake City and Dallas-Fort Worth.
