Report: New Silver Spring Library Projected to Open in 2014

Silver Chips Online reports on the projected opening date of the new Silver Spring Library.

The new Silver Spring Library is projected to open in October 2014, Silver Chips Online, Montgomery Blair High School's student newspaper, reported.

The library (which will be at the corner of Fenton Street and Wayne Avenue) is in the final stages of design, and will have five floors plus a basement, which will make the new library about four times as large as the current library (at 8901 Colesville Rd.), Silver Chips reported.

There'll be an art gallery and a coffee bar, a connection to the planned Purple Line (which isn't projected to open until at least 2020) and "parking for patrons will be available in the Wayne Avenue garage across the street from the site," Silver Chips added.

The library also will house the county's Amharic language collection, Patch reported.
