Happy Earth day! Grab your cup of joe and let's get to the five things you need to know to stay up-to-date about what’s going on in the community. Who knows, it may even help your Friday faster!

1. The National Weather service predicts thunderstorms all day with a 8o percent chance of rain with a Hi  of 45 degrees. The is rain is suppose to last into the evening and all weekend. Bummer.

2. Celebrate earth day with a variety of activities for all ages in downtown. Come out and learn about seed starting, recycling, rain gardens and more. The event starts is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. While your downtown you can stop in Starbucks they are giving a way free coffee today.

3. Coming up in Silver Spring Patch, what was that suspicious bug that made many dogs in Silver Spring sick for about a week? 

4. Montgomery County Council President Valerie Ervin helped to break ground at the King Street Community Garden. She has been referred to as “the mother of Montgomery County community gardening.”
