5 Things You Need to Know Today: August 19, 2011

Happy last day of the week, Silver Spring! Here are five things you need to know as you begin this Friday.

Good Morning! There are a number of health-inspired events happening in the neighborhood today. Here are five things you need to know to stay up-to-date about what’s going on in the community:

  1. Today will be partly cloudy with a high of 87 degrees, but showers are likely after noon, according to the National Weather Service. The evening will be mostly cloudy with a low of 68 degrees.
  2. Want to watch a movie without having to watch your little one? is hosting , which gives caregivers a chance to watch movies in a theatre environment without having to worry about babies making noise or the sound of the film being too much for the little one. This week’s movies are "Sarah’s Key" at 10:45 a.m. and "Midnight in Paris" at 11 a.m. The price is $8.50 for adults and free for babies.
  3. Fenton Street Market supporters voice their support in a new video released on Youtube. In the new video customers and artists talk about how much they love the market although Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett decided against extending a discounted rate to the market to continue to use space in downtown Silver Spring each week.
  4. Come out to downtown Silver Spring to dance and have a hangover-free happy hour at . Hosted by Zukossa Fitness, this exercise party will be in front of at 908 Ellsworth Drive. To join, participants can pay either $15 in advance of $20 at the event. A portion of the proceeds will benefit City of Hope.
  5. Love Italian food? Pacci's Trattoria and Pasticceria passed its final inspection Monday and is now taking reservations. The grand opening is scheduled for Aug. 25.
