5 Things You Need to Know Today: August 5, 2011

Happy Friday Silver Spring! Here are five things you need to know on the last day of the work week.

Good Morning! Here are five things you need to know to stay up-to-date about what’s going on in the community today:

1) Today will be partly sunny with a high near 87 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Have an umbrella handy in the evening, as there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms with a low around 72 degrees.

2) The award winning is being offered at at 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Senior Fit is a free 45-minute exercise class for people 55 and older and is a partnership of Holy Cross Hospital, Kaiser Permanente, the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Montgomery County Department of Recreation and Springvale Terrace.

3) Interested in having a mysterious Friday? The Historic Blair Mansion Inn will put on its weekly performance, . The cast takes modern themes to create a backdrop for the murderer to commit the crime. Then, that's when the crowd steps in to guess who committed the devious act. The price varies for children and adults.

4) The National Capital Trolley Museum is hosting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Museum exhibits, theater presentations and street car rides will be open as well. Admission is $5 for children and $7 for adults.

5) Make a healthy step toward the weekend and get at the East Montgomery County Regional Services Center at 3300 Briggs Chaney Road. The center will be open from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
