Good morning, it's 'hump day'! What five things do you need to know to stay up-to-date about what’s going on in the community? Patch has you covered this Wednesday morning:

1. According to the National Weather Service, you can expect another cool day with sunny skies and temperatures near 90 degrees. The evening skies should be mostly clear, with a low around 70 degrees.  

2. Today marks the anniversary of the legendary actor/comedian Bob Hope's death. News reports confirm that Hope died of pneumonia.

3. Take a load off and join game night on Veterans Plaza. A chess organization called All The Right Moves will be at Veterans Plaza with chess sets from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

4. The Silver Spring Transportation and Pedestrian Safety Committee meets tonight. If you have concerns about traffic safety or pedestrian walkways, this is where your needs can be heard. Call the Silver Spring Civic Center for more details at 240-777-5300.
