5 Things You Need to Know Today: May 17

A look at five things you need to know to help get you through the day.

What five things do you need to know to stay up-to-date about what’s going on in the community?  Stay tuned to Patch this Tuesday morning to get the scoop.

1. Don't leave the house without the umbrella--today's forecast calls for a nearly 100 percent chance of rain, with scattered showers or thunderstorms likely all day. Thunderstorms that break out will be mainly in the afternoon but may continue into the evening.  High temps will be around 70, with lows Tuesday evening around 60. East winds of 10-15 miles per hour will continue throughout  the day.

2. This evening at the Silver Spring Civic Center, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Congressman Chris Van Hollen will host a special forum, "." Stop by to get information and talk with experts on identity theft, scams, credit card rules, veterans' and Social Security benefits, foreclosure prevention and more.  It's presented in cooperation with the Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection.
