5 Things You Need to Know Today: May 19

What five things do you need to know to stay up-to-date about what’s going on in the community?  Stay tuned to Patch this Thursday to get the scoop.

1. Same forecast, different day...  Showers are again expected today, with an added side of patchy fog this morning.  Showers will likely develop into thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs will be in the lower 70s, with north winds around 5 mile per hour that will turn to west in the afternoon. Lows in the mid 50s tonight.  Chance of rain today is 70 percent.

2. Loiederman Middle School--which boasts one of the top-ranked middle school choral ensembles in the state--presents its spring concert this evening at 7 pm. Special attactions: the sixth-grade show choir singing medley of Michael Jackson hits; a guest appearance by the Strathmore Elementary School chorus; and a chance to bid on a variety of fun-but-useful goods and services at their silent auction. Proceeds go to support choral music at Loiederman, Montgomery County's only whole magnet school for the creative and performing arts. (The concert will be held at John F. Kennedy High School, 1901 Randolph Road. Admission is $3).
