5 Things You Need to Know Today: May 20

A look at five things you need to know to help get you through the day.

What five things do you need to know to stay up-to-date about what’s going on in the community? Patch has this Friday's scoop:

1. The clouds aren't completely gone, but the forecast does begin to brighten as we head into the weekend.  Today isolated showers are expected, with a chance of thunderstorms again after 11:00 am.  Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. The high will be near 75, with west winds between 6 and 9 mph.  Lows tonight will be in the upper 50s, with rain chances falling to 30 percent.

2. If you're downtown today on between 11:00am and 2:00 pm, on Georgia Avenue near Colesville Road, you may spot a brightly-painted truck with a crowd of people lining up behind it. It's not lunch they're waiting for--it's a free manicure. TV Guide Channel's "Mobile Spa" is in town to promote its new reality show, The Nail Files, and series star Katie Cazorla (owner of “The Painted Nail” celebrity hotspot, in LA, of course) will be 'on hand' to do the free manicures.  (If you've got time, you can get one too!)
