5 Things You Need to Know Today: May 23

What five things do you need to know to stay up-to-date about what’s going on in the community? Patch has you covered this Monday morning:

1. Get ready for rain and humidity... the forecast calls for a mostly cloudy morning with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. The afternoon will be partly sunny with showers more likely to break out.  Highs will be in the lower 80s, with south winds 10-15 mph.  Lows Monday night will be in the 60s, with a chance of thunderstorms continuing. The chance of rain today is 60 percent.

2. Borders books in Silver Spring escaped the round of store closings earlier this year--following its parent company's filing of Chapter 11 bankruptcy--but the future of the local store remains very much in doubt. Stay tuned for the story in Patch later today.

3. It's Monday, but never too early in the week for art: This evening you can catch a performance of Contradiction Dance, as it presents "Just Dance" at the Roundhouse Theatre.  The dance company creates works blending several dance forms with multimedia elements, storytelling, and theater. Tickets are $10-$15.
