5 Things You Need to Know Today: Sept. 19, 2011

Here are five things you need to know as you start your Monday.

Happy Monday, Silver Spring! Here are five things to know today, to help you keep up-to-date about what’s going on in the community:

1. Throughout the day you can expect mostly cloudy skies with temperatures near 70 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Into the evening, there may be a slight chance of rain, with temperatures dropping to about 60.

2. Richard Parsons makes his case for the proposed teen curfew law in his weekly column "Parsons on Politics." This week he said the curfew is gaining momentum and questions if the support by Police Chief J. Thomas Manger and other curfew supporters is good enough.

3. Did you miss the "News in Review?"  in Silver Spring Patch.

4. Looking for cheap gas? Visit gas buddy and type in your Zip code. It will populate stations nearest you with reasonable gas prices in your neighborhood.

5. Start your week with plenty of savings! We have launched our first "Patch Deals" focused on saving you money on an attic insulation and our regular family savings feature called "Stretching the Family Budget" compiles local deals on restaurants, clothing and much more.
