5 Things You Need to Know Today: Sept. 5, 2011

Happy Labor Day, Silver Spring! Here are five things you need to know as you start your day.

Good Morning! What five things do you need to know to stay up-to-date about what’s going on in the community? Patch has you covered this Monday:

1. There's a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. that may produce heavy rainfall, according to the National Weather Service. A high of 80 degrees is forecast. Showers are expected to continue into the evening with a low around 63 degrees.  

2. Need a Labor Day parade to attend? Kensington hosts its 44th annual parade and festival. It starts at 10 a.m., and the festival begins immediately after the parade.

3. The  in Annapolis is open. Everyone can take a part in fun activities and games, watch jousting competitions and shows, eat some turkey legs, see knights, princesses, amazing costumes, and so much more. The festival opens at 10 a.m.
