Happy Tuesday, Silver Spring! Here are five things you need to know as you start your day.

Good Morning! What five things do you need to know to stay up-to-date about what’s going on in the community? Patch has you covered this Tuesday:

1. There's a chance of heavy rain and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service. A high of 67 degrees is in the forecast. Showers are expected to continue into the evening with a low around 64 degrees. A flash flood watch is in effect .

2. Take in some live performances at Veterans Plaza beginning at 7 p.m. Groove with local artists such as the Greater U Street Jazz Collective, the Capital Accord Chorus, Mary Amato & Bill Wiliams, and Nathan Foley & Midnight Express.

3. ? Hundreds of people showed up to celebrate the holiday. Montgomery Blair High School cheerleaders and local cub scouts were among the participants who marched in this year's parade.
