Free Skating for Honor Students at Silver Spring Rink

The ice skating rink in downtown Silver Spring is rewarding high grades with a free skate, beginning Jan. 31.

While "Report Card Day" may be the most dreaded of school events for many students, kids who prove they've been hitting the books can spend the day ice skating for free.

The Silver Spring Ice Skating Rink at Veterans Plaza is offering a free hour on the rink for students who bring a report card as proof that they made their school's Honor Roll. An employee at the rink said the free skates begin on the day report cards come out, Thursday, Jan. 31, and ends on Tuesday, March 6. Students must also bring a student ID.

Regular price for two hours of skating is $7 for children 12 and under and also for people age 55 and up. Adults under 55 pay $8.
