Where/When: On Friday night, welcomes families to join in the fun from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Why Go: You get to watch "Despicable Me" and eat pizza. Could there be any better reason? Oh yes! Your donation goes to help some seventh-graders take a great trip and expand their horizons.

Where/When: On Wednesday, at the from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Why Go: Get some quality time with your baby, toddler or preschooler at the Takoma Park Silver Spring Co-Op .

• CHESS CLUB
Where/When: hosts on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
Why Go: You're never too young or too old to learn to play chess. Plus, it's not as embarrassing when your friends hear that your 6-year-old beat you at chess when you can tell them your kid goes to Chess Club.

Where/When: The Brookside Nature Center hosts this fun event from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Why Go: Here's a chance to find out all about this sweet treat, taste the sap and the syrup, too.
Pricing: $4 per child.
• JIM CROW ON STREETCARS EXHIBIT
Where/When: The National Capital Trolley Museum is open Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
Why Go: This special exhibit is open during the month of February in honor of Black History Month. It's also a great opportunity to see and learn about trolley history. Perfect for kids (and grown-ups) who love trains and trolleys.
