Report: Parks to Add Two Acres to Rock Creek Valley Stream Park

The Gazette newspaper reports Montgomery County's Parks department will spend $2 million on the addition.

Montgomery County officials plan to add about two acres of land to the Rock Creek Valley Stream Park in Silver Spring with an upcoming acquisition, the Gazette newspaper reported. The park, which is adjacent to Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC, is also accessible to Chevy Chase.

The newspaper said the $2 million plot of forest land will be purchased by the Montgomery County Parks Department from Glavell & Associates in Chevy Chase, a deal that's been in the making for four years, according to a parks official quoted in the story.

The addition is part of the Legacy Open Space Program that was created to provide "quality open space resources" to residents, the Gazette said.
