Reports: When the DC Snipers Hung Out at the Silver Spring YMCA

"The Atlantic" magazine has a first-person account of John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo's time at Silver Spring's YMCA.

Back in the fall of 2002, John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo were regulars at the YMCA of Silver Spring.

The duo would later make national headlines as the killers behind the sniper shootings that began in October of that year. Ten people were shot to death and three were wounded.

Jim Ross, a public health researcher in Silver Spring, recounts his interactions with the men at the community center for The Atlantic magazine.
