Stretching the Family Budget

Welcome back to our weekly rundown of five local deals to help with your family’s bottom line. Since we do the scouting, we save you time as well as money.

In these dwindling weeks of freedom before school starts (for the kids, that is) we scoured our local sources to round up a list of places where kids eat free--just in time for those last summer outings. Read carefully--deals apply only on a certain day of the week and/or time of day; and as always remember to check for any additional conditions (if any):

1. , 825 Ellsworth Dr., 301-588-2915 (and other locations).

Deal: On "Kid's Night" (Tuesday evenings), get a free Chick-fil-A kid's meal with purchase of any adult dinner. Also enjoy the balloon sculpting, face painting and pocket magic by local clowns!

Good through: Tuesdays, 5-8 p.m. (at Silver Spring location).

2. , 923 Ellsworth Dr., 301-585-1700.

Deal: Mondays are kids eat free day, with purchase of an adult meal (one kid's meal free for each adult meal).

Good through: Mondays, 4-10 p.m.

3. Fuddruckers, 819 Ellsworth Dr., 240-450-5990.

Deal: Kids eat free on Wednesdays - purchase any adult meal on Wednesday and get one kid's meal free (one per famly).

Good through: Wednesdays, all day.

4. Z Pizza, 815 Ellsworth Drive, 301-495-5536.

Deal: Kids under 13 get a free slice of pizza or kids pasta and a fountain drink, with adult purchase of any entree.

Good through: Mondays and Wednesdays, all day.

5. , 933 Ellsworth Dr., 301-588-1192.

Deal: Kids 12 and under eat free every Wednesday; one kids meal for each each adult meal purchase.

Good through: Wednesdays, lunch and dinner.
