Silver Spring Gets New Early Voting Location in 2014

There'll be more polling location options during early voting next year.

During the run up to primary election and general election days in 2014, there'll be nine early voting centers open in Montgomery County, the county's board of elections announced this week.

This is a big change from early voting in 2012, when there were just five locations for early voting in the county, according to the state board of election's website. And, of those five, just one—at the Silver Spring Civic Building—was located in lower Montgomery County.

But in 2014, residents of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase-Silver Spring area will have options. Next year, the early voting centers will be:

  • The Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center (social hall), 4301 Willow Ln., Chevy Chase
  • The Mid-County Community Recreation Center (social hall), 2004 Queensguard Rd., Silver Spring
  • The Silver Spring Civic Building (Ellsworth and Spring rooms), One Veterans Place, Silver Spring

The final list of sites, which includes these three sites, awaits approval from the Maryland State Board of Elections.

Early voting for the primary election will be June 12 to June 19, 2014, and early voting for the general election will be Oct. 23 to 30, 2014.
