Holiday Concert Vivaldi's Glorida in D Major

The Chancel
Choir of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension will perform the Gloria in D Major by Antonio Vivaldi
(1678-1741) under the direction of David Cato, Director of Music. This eerily-haunting
composition was created in the early 1700s and is today considered one of the
treasures of the Baroque period.
Remarkably, the composition was lost for two centuries and only discovered
in the late 1920s. The Chancel Choir’s rendition of the Gloria in D Major is characterized by soaring, bright melodies,
high octane speed and rich drama. The Levin School of Music Strings and Karen
Ashbrook’s Hammered Dulcimer add warmth and fluidity to a breathtaking

performance.
