Save 10 Mile Creek: Attend Rally/Press Conference 9-11am Thurs 7/25 on Steps of Planning Board
Please join the Save Ten Mile
Creek Coalition for a 9 am rally and 10 am press conference THIS THURSDAY
on the steps of the Montgomery County Planning Board at 8787 Georgia Avenue in
downtown Silver Spring. The
coalition will be releasing an analysis of the Planning Board staff report on
the Limited Master Plan Amendment Stage 4 for Clarksburg. Development plans in
the current staff draft will significantly
degrade Ten Mile Creek, while failing to deliver on needed amenities for
Clarksburg residents. If the plan in its current form is adopted, it
would degrade the last, best stream in Montgomery County and endanger the entire DC metro
region’s emergency drinking water supply – without giving Clarksburg residents
a walkable town center as promised in the 1994 Master Plan.
Our message on Thursday is:
"Just say no to development in Ten Mile Creek - put development
where Clarksburg residents say they need it - in Clarksburg Town Center."
There is limited time to get the Planning Board to change this draft. We
need to speak with one voice to tell the
Board to use proven methods to save Ten Mile
Creek, rather than bending to the needs of the developers.
