Holy Cross Hospital Named Top National Performer

Hospital in Silver Spring receives top marks for surgical care and treating heart failure, heart attack and pneumonia.

Silver Spring's Holy Cross Hospital is the only health facility in the Baltimore-Washington region to be named to The Joint Commission's Top Performers on Key Quality Measures list

The hospital's care of patients suffering from heart failure, heart attack, pneumonia and surgical care were noted.

Of the 620 facilities named, healthcare heavyweights like Johns Hopkins in Baltimore were not included, the Washington Post reports. Part of the reason Holy Cross, a relatively small, 448-bed hospital, was listed and not larger hospitals is its prevention methods, such as giving aspirin to heart attack patients and prescribing anti-stroke medicine to stroke patients once they leave, the Post reports.
