Report: Montgomery County Farms Freeze to Feed Hungry

Freezing helps keep produce edible for local food centers.

Turns out, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. WTOP reports that some farmers in Montgomery County are producing more produce than they can sell at the county’s many farmers’ markets. Even donating to food centers can be problematic, the radio station reports.

The solution? Freeze their bounty for Gaithersburg’s Manna Food Center to thaw and use when needed.
