TOO AKA Connection Gubernatorial Forum in Silver Spring

Silver Spring's Gwendolyn E. Coffield Community Recreation Center was the site Saturday for a Gubernatorial Forum hosted by the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Theta Omega Omega Chapter. Held during their chapter meeting, the Forum invited candidates running in both the GOP and Democrat June 24th Primaries. First to speak from the 2014 Heather Mizeur for Governor Democrat campaign was her selected Lt Governor candidate, Rev. Delman Coates of Prince George's County; Mizeur not present at the Forum resides in the town of Takoma Park within Montgomery County. Coates was followed by Howard County Executive Ken Ulman, the running mate with Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown of the Anthony Brown for Governor Democrat campaign; Brown not present for the Forum resides in Prince George's County. Of the four candidates in the GOP primary, Charles Lollar spoke to the Sorority Forum. Lollar, of Charles County, is running for Governor with his running mate, Ken Timmerman, from Frederick County, for Lt. Governor. The final speaker at the TOO-AKA Connection event was AG Doug Gansler, from Montgomery County of the Gansler Democrat for Governor campaign; he selected Maryland Del. Jolene Ivey, of Cheverly in Prince George's County, as his running mate. Although open only to AKA members during their meeting, this Forum gave an opportunity to the primary candidates to express their platforms, their positions to a group of professional women widely known for active community involvement.
