Turning The Tides 2014: giving voice to Marylanders

Everyday nearly voiceless citizens met in Annapolis Saturday for the 3rd annual Maryland Citizens Action Network. From all over the state Marylanders expressed dismay about gerrymandered districts and dominance of Progressives in the General Assembly

Turning The Tides 2014 panels moderated by local celebrities including Larry O'Connor of WMAL 105.9FM radio and Derek Hunter of WBAL 1090AM radio, covered largely local concerns most notably the Western Maryland Initiative. This initiative of the five western counties to secede has been driven by a revolt against what is seen as Takoma Park-dominated state politics.
Community representatives such as Richard Rothschild, Commissioner in Carroll County spoke on preserving the Maryland heritage and family farms. Street artist and Baltimore caterer, Duane "Shorty" Davis announced his run for Lieutenant Governor of the Free State as well as his misunderstood toilet brigade of artwork merged political expression.
The range of attendees for the spirited day was as broad as the Maryland counties represented: high schoolers, Millennials, farmers, retirees, candidates for local position in the 2014 race, radio hosts, bloggers and the print press. There was no Democrat or Republican or Libertarian as much as there was consensus for the overall needs of average Marylanders, the neglect by current political types for the very people they are alleged to represent.
