The Pooper Scooper Scandal

In case you've been tempted to not clean up after your dog, think again. You could end up in court!

In case you’ve been tempted to not clean up after your dog, think again. You could end up in court! Take this latest case about a Fairfax woman who was brought to trial by her neighbors for failing to clean up after her pooch, Baxter. He looks a lot like my pup, Petey! Luckily for her she was exonerated but only after a day-long trial which included “photos of dog piles submitted as evidence, a lengthy dissection of Baxter’s diet and a witness who brought a bag of poop to the courthouse, although not inside.” How humiliating!

Perhaps the court wanted to make an example about of this do-do offender. People really get fired up about this stuff. I’ve actually seen homemade signs in my own community warning dog owners that they are being watched and will be caught if they don’t clean up after their pets. Necessary? Perhaps. Creepy? Yes.

Hilarious? Definitely! But in all seriousness, there’s really no excuse when so many apartment complexes, including several in downtown Silver Spring, and neighborhoods now offer complimentary waste bags and receptacles. You’d have to be pretty darn lazy not to take advantage of this free amenity. Still unsure what to do with you pet’s poopy? Well you could always buy this crazy contraption.
