Happy Friday, Silver Spring! Here are five things to know, to help you keep up-to-date about what’s going on in the community:

1. The National Weather Service predicts thunderstorms before 10 a.m., and they may continue throughout the day. Temperatures are expected to hover around the low 70s. Into the evening, the thunderstorms may continue with temperatures dropping to the low 50s.

Throughout the weekend, the weather is expected to be sunny with temperatures reaching a high near 70 degrees.

2. A sexual assault was reported at Montgomery College's Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus Thursday. Police are searching for suspects and looking for help from the community in providing any information about the incident.

3. The Lyttonsville community was pleased to hear that the Maryland Transit Administration will be reevaluating its plans for the proposed Purple Line's rail yard. The community had expressed serious concerns during two recent meetings with MTA about new design options for the heavy industrial Purple Line support facility. 

4. Fenton Street Market organizer Hannah McCann is hosting an informal conversation addressing the closing of the market at her event, Community Roundtable: Why Is the Market Closing? McCann will be available to answer questions from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Veterans Plaza about the recent closure announcement. It is free and open to all.
