Northbound New Hampshire Avenue Ramp to Beltway Reopened

State Highway Administration closed the ramp in late April to repair the bridge.

 

Your work commute might be easier than it has been in weeks. The northbound New Hampshire Avenue ramp to I-495 reopened Wednesday, the Maryland State Highway Administration announced. 

The ramp closed in late April so that repairs could be made to the bridge. All of the repairs are not done and lane closures and lane shifts on the Beltway will continue temporarily during off-peak hours.

SHA spent $1.2 million to replace existing driving surface, pave and resurface connections to the bridge and apply new pavement markings. 

Crews will continue work to remove a demolition shield on the bridge, install scaffolding on the bridge over the Beltway, clean and paint existing steel beams underneath the bridge and restore exterior bridge supports. The additional work will cause the following lane closures:

•       Westbound I-495: Overnight single, double and triple lane closures Sunday through Thursday between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

•       Eastbound I-495: Overnight single and double lane closures Sunday through Thursday between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
