2013 2nd Annual NHE/OV PTA Festival of Cultures

The New Hampshire Estates Elementary School/Oak View Elementary School Parent Teacher Association recently held its second annual PTA Festival of Cultures event at New Hampshire Estates Elementary School on Nov. 2, inviting more than 100 families to experience dance, art and music from a variety of international cultures.

The festival, sponsored by Morgan State University and designed to raise funds for development and social activities for students attending New Hampshire Estates Elementary School and Oak View Elementary School featured the Blair High School Ethiopian Student Association, the University of Maryland Tango Club, the Sharanya Dance performers from India and Pacific Island dance troupe Isa Pasifika.

The festival’s keynote performers were Marimba Linda Xelaju, which delighted the crowd with Guatemalan Marimba music, and Brazilian performance arts troupe Roda Movements, which gave demonstrations to parents and children on the art of capoeira.
