Help for single mom to lower rent or buy a house?

I have got to find a more affordable home or try to buy a house.  I am a single mom trying to make it on my own.  I found some awesome resources on http://www.singlemomfinancialhelp.com/assistance/housing/  but would like to find out if there could be more assistance to lower rent or programs for single moms or single parents to buy their first home.
