Justice for VERNON !

The Reeves family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and sincere appreciation to the dedicated staff of Bafnield Animal Hospital that were on duty the evening of Feb 1, 2014. The staff went above and beyond normal services that are routinely expected from such a facility.
Earlier in the day our beloved Family member Vern was murdered by the AACO Police Department in our front yard. You can’t imagine the blinding pain, numbness, and loss we were experiencing. At 6:45 pm we reached out to the hospital to aide us with the remains of our beloved Vern. Larry was the first person I spoke with. He expressed sincere concern; assured us they would provide the proper handling of the remains but they were closing in 15 minutes.  We were 20 minutes away.   In panic and pain I realized we were not going to be able to provide Vern with the dignity of properly handling his remains that he was so deserving of; let alone knowing we would have to keep his remains at home until morning causing more pain to an already grieving family. Through sobs I asked Larry to try and understand how traumatized we are and for the first time told him our dog had been shot and killed. I asked him if there was any way they could stay open until we could get there, his compassion came from the heart and his immediate response was yes, of course they would wait the extra minute or so. My Nephew Mikey and I arrived at 7:12pm. I entered the store and was greeted by Larry and an associate; they immediately asked me if I required assistance with my loved one and upon an affirmative response proceed to retrieve Vern. Upon meeting Mikey, who was standing watch over Vern and terribly grief stricken they hugged him, gave him their heartfelt sympathies and told him they would tenderly accept Vern. Mikey had no other worries from that point on.
Once inside Vern was seen by the Veterinarian on duty who conducted his routine examine of Vern and compassionately told us what we already knew, Vern was deceased. From there the empathy grew as each of these individuals could see we were not thinking properly. Each offered us invaluable information, educated us on the procedures ahead, and offered their service of documentation to help us if we thought it necessary to pursue justice for Vern.   They then allowed us to say our final goodbyes.
It is through tear filled eyes and a broken hearts we commend the folks of Banfield Animal Hospital, through their outpouring of compassion, their sincere dedication to their profession and their genuine empathy to our loss. They truly helped eased our burden and the mourning of our BELOVED Vern.
