UPDATE: 13-Year-Old Struck By Car, Killed at Soccer Game

Montgomery County Police are asking anyone who saw a car strike two people at a soccer game Tuesday night at Eastern Middle School in Silver Spring to call authorities. A girl died in the collision.

UPDATED at 12:20 p.m.

A driver reportedly struck a woman and girl watching a soccer game at Eastern Middle School in Silver Spring, killing the 13-year-old girl.

The teenage victim was identified Wednesday as Deborah Roxana Reyes Casasola of the 900 block of Northampton Drive in Silver Spring.

Detectives say the fatal pedestrian collision occurred about 8:32 p.m. Tuesday near the parking lot of Eastern Middle School, 300 University Boulevard E. in Silver Spring. They need witnesses to tell police what they saw at the accident scene.

Montgomery County Police say the driver of a 2008 Ford Focus was driving in the rear parking lot of the school, when the car veered out of the parking lot. It struck a sign, a tree, and the unnamed woman and Casasola.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Casasola was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the car to leave the parking lot. Detectives believe three adults were in the suspect vehicle, a Ford Escape. At this time, the occupants of the vehicle are not telling investigators who was driving.

Some spectators at the game witnessed the collision, but left before police arrived at the scene.

Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed the accident but who did not speak to investigators to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240.773.6620 or call the police non-emergency number at 301.279.8000. Language interpreters are available and callers may remain anonymous.
