6-Year-Old Girl Sexually Assaulted at Silver Spring Park

Police: The girl was waiting for an ice cream truck.

Maryland-National Capital Park Police are searching for a suspect who sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl at Tanglewood Neighborhood Park, in the Fairland area of Silver Spring.

The suspect, believed to be a teenage boy, approached the girl while she was waiting for the ice cream truck at the park, at 2868 Schubert Drive, around 7 p.m. July 9, park police said in a news release.

The suspect is described as a clean shaven, dark-skinned black male, about 16 years old, with brown eyes and an “afro”-type haircut that was slicked back, the release said.

He has a dimple on his chin and a small diamond piercing in his left ear above his earlobe. He is described as a heavy build with a “big belly,” the release said.

He was wearing blue Jordan Nike shoes with a red tongue and blue laces, a red T-shirt with an unknown white and gray pattern in the middle and shorts, the release said.

He fled on foot toward the wooded area behind the playground.
