A 72-year-old Silver Spring man was beaten and left with serious injuries sometime Monday night or Tuesday morning, but police have no leads concerning the attack because the victim has been unable to speak to detectives.
Candelario Guevara-Guzman was found by his sons lying in the parking lot of an apartment building in the 8600 block of Garland Avenue in Silver Spring, about a two-minute walk from where he lives, at 3:31 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, police said.
Guevara-Guzman’s sons called 911 and their father was transported to a local hospital with injuries so severe he still isn’t able to speak, according to police.
Montgomery County police detectives said they believe Guevara-Guzman left his home around 8 p.m. Monday night to go shopping.
Police said that they aren’t sure if the assailant used a weapon to beat the man.
