Apparent Accidental Death of a Baby in Silver Spring

Montgomery County Police are still investigating, though there were no immediate signs of foul play.

Montgomery County detectives are investigating the death of a 17-month-old baby boy in Silver Spring.

Earlier today, Montgomery County Police officials were alerted of the emergency in the 900 block of North Hampton Drive. When officials arrived on the scene, they administered CPR and drove him to the hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

In an initial investigation, it was determined that the boy was put down for a nap in his bedroom but somehow got out of his crib. Then he apparently became entangled in a looped drapery cord in his bedroom. Preliminary evidence indicates that this death was accidental.
