Armed Robberies and Residential Burglaries in Silver Spring, Police report

Montgomery County Police reported armed robberies, residential burglaries and home burglaries.

 

The following is compiled from crime summaries provided by the Montgomery County Police Department. Arrests do not imply guilt.

7500 block of Blair Road: A strong-arm robbery occurred on Monday, Aug. 6 at 11:56 p.m. The suspects approached the adult female victim, tackled her, snatched her property and fled on foot. Her purse and travel bag were taken.

Exxon gas station located at 8384 Colesville Road: A commercial robbery occurred on Thursday, Aug. 2 at 10:22 a.m. The suspect entered the station, produced a gun and demanded money.  He removed cash from a drawer and then fled the area on foot.

Suspect’s description: A black male between the ages of 22 and 25, standing 6-feet to 6-feet 2-inches tall and weighing 150 to 160 pounds. He was described as wearing a green and white hat, white shirt around his neck and jeans.

10300 block of Leslie Street: A robbery occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 2 a.m. The six suspects approached the adult male victim from behind and assaulted him. They removed his cell phone and wallet, then fled on foot.

9300 block of Piney Branch Road: A robbery occurred on Sunday, Aug. 5 at 4:25 a.m. The suspect robbed the victim with a knife.

500 block of Domer Avenue: An assault/robbery occurred on Sunday, Aug. 5 at 5:54 a.m. The four suspects approached the adult male victim, pointed a gun at him and demanded his wallet and cell phone. The victim complied, but before the suspects left the scene, one assaulted the victim with the gun. Three suspects fled on foot and the fourth fled on a bicycle.

8500 block of Carroll Avenue: An armed robbery occurred on Friday, Aug. 3 at 3:35 p.m. The suspect approached the adult female victim, placed a knife against her back and forced her to a park area, where he took her passport and snatched a chain from around her neck. The suspect fled on foot.

Suspect’s description: Hispanic male between 30 to 40 years of age, standing 5-feet 10-inches to 6-feet tall. He was wearing a blue/white shirt and jeans during the time.

Takoma Academy located at 8120 Carroll Avenue:  A commercial burglary occurred between 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1 and 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug 2.  There was a forced entry but nothing was taken.

500 block of Thayer Avenue: A residential burglary occurred on Wednesday, Aug. 1 between 8:30 a.m. and 11:51 a.m. There was a forced entry and property was taken.

9500 block of Pin Oak Avenue: A residential burglary occurred on Thursday, Aug. 2 between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. There was an unknown means of entry, bedrooms were ransacked, property, and cash taken.

8900 block of Flower Avenue: An aggravated assault occurred on Friday, Aug. 3 at 3:30 p.m. The suspect threatened his ex-girlfriend with a gun.

8800 block of Piney Branch Road : A residential burglary occurred on Monday, Aug. 6 at 6:16 p.m. There was an unknown means of entry and it was unknown whether anything was taken.

8600 block of Manchester Road: A residential burglary occurred between 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31 and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5. There was an unknown means of entry, the residence ransacked, property and cash was taken.
