Car Crashes into Hunter’s Inn Restaurant, 6 Injured

The incident marks the third time a car has smashed into the Montgomery County restaurant and the second time in this year alone.

Guests at Hunter’s Inn restaurant in Potomac had an unexpectedly shocking lunch hour on Saturday when an elderly woman driving a Honda reportedly smashed into the restaurant.

According to WJLA, the 80-year-old woman, a regular at Hunter’s Inn, had just left the restaurant and may have hit the accelerator instead of the brake, sending her car straight through the building’s glass facade.

“It jumped the curb, came through the fence and just kept coming,” restaurant owner Murray Berman told WJLA.

The incident marks the third time a vehicle has barreled into the restaurant and the second time in 2014 alone, WJLA reports. Six people, including the driver, were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Berman told WJLA there are now plans to install metal safety pillars to prevent another such accident. The fixtures will hopefully be installed by August.
