Updated: 75-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck on Colesville Road

The man was sent to a local trauma center in serious condition, said fire and rescue officials.

A 75-year-old man is in serious condition at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda after he was hit by a car Thursday morning near the intersection of Colesville Road and North Noyes Drive in Silver Spring.

The pedestrian was identified as John Skelton Williams, of the 9000 block of Sligo Creek Parkway, in Silver Spring.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded to the scene around 9:32 a.m., according to Beth Anne Nesselt, a spokesperson for the department.

A silver 2005 Honda Accord traveling north on Colesville Road hit Williams as he was crossing Colesville Road from east to west, just north of North Noyes Drive, Montgomery County police said in a news release.

The driver was identified as Dennis Stewart, 49, of the 9000 block of Belwart Way in Columbia.

County police are investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information to call the department's Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620. Callers may remain anonymous.
