Elderly Woman Suffers Serious Burns In Silver Spring House Fire

Fire and Rescue crews responded to the home in the Long Branch neighborhood around 11 a.m. Thursday.

An elderly woman suffered "serious," life-threatening burns from a cooking fire in the Long Branch neighborhood of Silver Spring Thursday morning, according to a Twitter update from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Assistant Chief Scott Graham.

Fire crews responded to the 8500 block of 11th Avenue just around 10:46 a.m., according to WUSA9.

The woman was transported to a local burn center, according to Graham's Twitter update.
