Fairland Family Dollar Robber Sentenced Monday

State's Attorney: Kairee D. Dorsey robbed discount store with a pellet gun.

The man convicted for robbing a Family Dollar in Fairland with a pellet gun last year was sentenced Monday to 15 years in prison, the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s office announced. 

Kairee D. Dorsey, 22, of the 13600 block of Sir Thomas Way in Silver Spring, received concurrent sentences of 15 years for the armed robbery and 10 years each for two counts of second-degree assault, the State’s Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

During a court appearance last month, Dorsey tried to run out of the courtroom, but he was caught by authorities, WUSA9 reports. Video of the court incident is posted at WUSA9.com.

On November 28, 2012, Dorsey held up the Family Dollar store at 13817 Outlet Drive, threatening to kill two employees if they didn’t comply with his orders. He made off with $1,100, according to charging documents filed in court.

Montgomery County police said Dorsey ran when police to apprehend him hours after the robbery—prompting an officer to fire a shot, police said.

No one was injured.

Dorsey was convicted June 28 for armed robbery and two counts of second-degree assault, but he was found not guilty on two counts of first-degree assault, according to Montgomery County Circuit Court records accessed online.
