UPDATE: Missing Silver Spring Man Located

A silver alert has been activated through the Maryland State Police.

Charles Irving Griggs, 82, was located and is back with his family, police said.

The family of an elderly Silver Spring man who went missing Tuesday evening is asking for the public’s help to locate him, police said.

Charles Irving Griggs, 82, is diabetic with high blood pressure and is in the early stages of dementia. He is being described as 5-feet, 11-inches tall and weighing 250 pounds with gray hair and hazel eyes.

Griggs was last seen leaving Fredrick, MD, by car and headed home to Silver Spring around 9:30 p.m. wearing a short-sleeved tan-button collared shirt, khaki pants and brown deck shoes, police said.

His car is described as a 2010 white Ford Fusion with Maryland tag number 3AS0997.
