Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Piney Branch Road

Montgomery County Police is asking that anyone with information to call 301-840-2435.

Montgomery County Police (MCP) is investigating the cause of a fatal pedestrian collision in Silver Spring.

About 6:38 p.m. Thursday night, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue officials were dispatched to the intersection of Flower Avenue and Piney Branch Road for a personal injury collision involving a passenger vehicle and a pedestrian.

An initial investigation revealed that Donald Warren Burch, 57, was crossing the southbound lanes of Flower Avenue and was struck by a white 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

He was transported to the Washington Hospital Center with life-threatening injuries and died Friday morning.

Thomas Joseph Dunebin, from the 12700 block Viers Mill Road in Rockville, is identified as the driver of the vehicle. He wasn't injured and remained at the scene of the collision.   

MCP investigators are asking that anyone who witnessed the accident to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435.
