Female Jogger Assaulted in Sligo Creek Park

Park Police ask that anyone with details contact them at 301-949-3010.

A woman jogging near Woodman Avenue and Sligo Creek Park was assaulted Friday afternoon, the Maryland-National Capital Park Police reported.

Around 4:20 p.m., the jogger noticed a man traveling on the path coming toward her, according to an email from Lt. Lauryn McNeill. When the suspect got close, he then allegedly knocked her to the ground and slapped her. The victim yelled loudly and kicked the suspect, after which he ran away.

A witness walking her dog heard the incident and helped the woman, according to the email.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall man in his early 20s with black curly hair, possibly of Indian descent. When he was last seen, he had on black athletic pants and a green shirt.
