Holy Cross Hospital Cleans Up After Fire

The fire broke out around 11:15 p.m. Thursday.

Update, 5 p.m.: Crews are still working to clean up water damage after a mechanical device sent smoke through the third floor of Holy Cross Hospital Thursday evening, said Yolanda Gaskins, the spokeswoman for Holy Cross Hospital.

The smoke caused hospital officials to evacuate 12 high-risk pregnant women out of their rooms for a short amount of time, Gaskins added.

Hospital officials also had to close one bank of elevators and the laundry room after they were immersed in water. The crews are working to clean up water damage in the gift shop and throughout the building.
