Great-granddaughter of Heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post Found Stabbed to Death

A musician has been arrested in the Caribbean in the death within a family well-known in Maryland for its namesake concert venue in Columbia, according to reports.

The great-granddaughter of socialite Marjorie Merriweather Post has been found stabbed to death on the Caribbean island of Roatan, according to news reports.

Nederia Post Dye, 46, worked with young people at risk and drug addicts, police officials were quoted as saying. 

Police charged a local singer whom Dye was allegedly helping quit drugs, according to reports. The singer told police he and Dye were romantically involved.

Dye's body was found Dec. 22 in her room at a luxury resort that she owned, according to reports.

The suspect was identified as Lenin Roberto Arana who used the stage name "The Canary."

Dye was reportedly an alumnus of George Washington University. Her family was associated with the cereal company that would become General Foods Inc., which was combined with Kraft in 1990.

The Marjorie Merriweather Post estate and museum at Hillwood is located in Northwest Washington, D.C.
