Have You Seen the Stolen Jetta Used in Silver Spring Purse Snatching?

Police want help locating the getaway car a robber used over the weekend.

A silver Volkwagen Jetta may be the key to discovering who robbed a woman in downtown Silver Spring over the weekend and Montgomery County Police want to know if you've spotted the getaway car.

The victim told police that a man approached her from behind as she was walking in the 800 block of Bonifant Street Friday night, just before 10:45 p.m. The suspect, of whom police do not have a detailed description, grabbed her purse and demanded that she give it to him, police said.

The robber said he had a weapon, although the victim told police that she didn't see one. She surrendered her purse and said that she saw the man get into a silver Volkswagen Jetta that was waiting for him, police said. The victim said the car drove off. She was not injured in the robbery.
