Jogger Reports Rape on Silver Spring Trail

Montgomery County Police are searching for a rape suspect after a woman jogging reported an attack on a Silver Spring trail.

A woman jobbing Monday afternoon on the Northwest Branch trail was raped by a man armed with a knife, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.

Police were called at 4:15 p.m. to the attack that had just occurred in park land adjacent to Oakview Drive in Silver Spring. The victim, a woman in her 20s, said she had been running on a trail in the Northwest Branch area when she was approached by the suspect, who was armed with a knife. The suspect forced her off the trail, raped her, and fled.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his mid-twenties who is 5′ 10″ to 6′ tall. He has a medium build, a medium complextion, and short black hair.

At the time of the assault he was wearing a blue baseball cap, a white T-shirt, and black pants. The white shirt may have a light blue logo on it.
