Man Charged with Sexual Assault from 30 Years Ago

The suspect was arrested in Florida and charged in Montgomery County on April 8, according to police.

A former resident of Silver Spring was extradited from Florida to Montgomery County, arrested, and charged with for a sexual assault that he may have committed when he was a teen, police officials said.

Last month they obtained a warrant for Christopher Chamblin, 48, and charged him with one count of first-degree rape.  Chamblin was between 14 and 16 years old and lived in the 8500 block of Mayfair Place in Silver Spring.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Family Crimes Division began an investigation into an allegation back in 2009 after a string of sexual assaults were committed in the late 1970’s which led them to the suspect.
