Man Stabbed During Attempted Robbery in Silver Spring

Police say the victims were walking down a sidewalk in the Long Branch area of Silver Spring.

A man was stabbed and sent to a local hospital early Monday morning after an attempted robbery that occurred as he and an adult female were walking down a sidewalk in the Long Branch area of Silver Spring, Montgomery County police said.

Officers were dispatched at 12:30 a.m. April 8 to the intersection of Gilbert Place and Barron Street with reports of a stabbing, said Officer Janelle Smith, spokesperson for the department. 

Police said two male suspects approached the couple and the woman threw her purse at the suspects. One of the robbers tried to search the man, who was then stabbed, Smith said.

Police did not recover any weapons and nothing was stolen from the couple. No arrests have been made.
